Exhibiting is such an expensive affair, both in time and money, that we always try and evaluate the benefits of brand awareness and value of new contacts, versus the cost of attending and manning the stand.

International Firex 2011 is a show which took us by surprise in 2011 in terms of the number of new contacts made, and the on-going dialogue and interest in the deegee beacon brand.  Visitor numbers mean nothing without the conversion at some stage to an invoice for a beacon, and already this conversion is taking place.

Standards for visual beacons in the fire sector are changing, and we shall tell you more about this during 2012.  However, rest assured that with an interesting year of developments ahead of us, deegee is well-placed to continue to supply high quality beacons and sounders to its customers, ensuring our on-going place as a key worldwide supplier to the industry.

At the second of the three shows being attended by D. G. Controls Ltd during 2011, we have been very pleased with the number of international visitors to Firex.

Whilst listed as an international show, previous years of Firex have predominantly been attended by UK visitors.  However, with the deegee brand known and available world-wide, overseas contacts are always extremely valuable, and either dealt with directly by the UK-based Sales Team, or passed onto one of our extremely competent and technically-trained distributors.

The deegee booth at Firex 2011 has already broken previous years’ records for contact numbers, and the quality of the enquiries looks to be of a high calibre too.  Hosted by our UK Sales Team, and backed-up at the office by our technical and development personnel, you can be sure that a visit to the deegee booth in Hall 5, Stand H5 will be worth your while.  You can visit between 9am and 5pm at the NEC, Birmingham, UK from Monday to Thursday 16th to 19th May 2011.

We had a higher than usual number of non-UK visitors, testament to the organiser’s efforts in promoting this as an international show.  This was great as we are always seeking new countries with which to “do business”, but it was also good to meet with existing and potential UK customers.

Using our new exhibition kit, we were able to demonstrate a wide range of products again, as we did at the Hannover Messe in April.  Whilst Firex and the associated show IFSEC mainly focus on fire and security, the deegee portfolio is applied in a vast range of sectors, and it is rather surprising just how many other areas are represented by the visitors to a show like Firex.  Engineers and installation specialists tend to cover more than just one aspect of site security nowadays, and this means the potential for picking up valuable contacts across the product range is high.

It seems an absolute age since the last International Fire Expo - 2 years in fact! - but the wait is now over, the products are ready, the stand is built and we’re ready for our first visitors of the week.
