Coronavirus (COVID-19) – Business Update

April 20, 2020

UPDATED 20th April 2020

Coronavirus

20th April 2020

Firstly, may I thank you for your continued support during these exceptionally challenging times.

On Thursday last week the government confirmed an extension of the current lock-down measures for a further three weeks.  As there has been no material change announced, for us it is very much a continuation of our currently in-force policies and procedures.  As such, I will take the opportunity to update as follows:

Sales & Admin

We very much continue in the same way as we have done over the past four weeks.  Where possible those members of the team that can will be continuing their work from home.  As previously advised, you should not see any impact from this as all of our systems are already accessible remotely.

Production

We continue to see an increase in enquiries for our products across general industry as well as in key Health, Transport and Defence sectors.  We are doing all that we can to meet these urgent needs and have drafted in additional team members to minimise any delays.

Stock & Purchasing

Things are operating very much as normal and we continue to experience limited impact in these areas.  However, a number of key suppliers, quite rightly, implemented an extended shutdown either side of Easter.  As of the 20th April, I am seeing notifications from suppliers that they are now open or plan to do so on Monday 27th April.  Where this impacts individual lines, we have been able, in most cases, to identify alternative products to meet your most urgent requirements.

Despatch

We continue to be grateful for the continued excellent service levels achieved by our delivery partners, both for the UK as well as overseas customers.  Regular daily collections have continued without disruption and we have always been able to call on specialists as and when required.

Finally, do continue to make contact through the usual channels (Tel:01283550850, E-mail:TeamDEEGEE@beacoanlamps.com) as well as via the chat-widget at the foot of your screen.

Wishing you the very best possible during this world-wide pandemic, I hope that you and those you care about are staying safe,

Jon.

10th April 2020

We have arrived at the Easter 4-day break and only a few days from Monday 13th April that will mark the completion of the third week of the lock-down here in the UK.  We are closed Today through Monday 14th April and reopen as usual on Tuesday 14th April.

1st April 2020

As we are halfway through our second week of enhanced enforced social distancing, we want to update you with where we currently stand operationally.

We have been progressively moving our office-based team to home based working whilst maintaining their Phone/Email/Business-systems access.  The remote systems are working well and remain robust as we have scaled-up this process.  All team members remain contactable on their normal DDI numbers and direct email addresses.  We hope that the steps taken are invisible to you and that you continue to receive the same levels of service as you would should we all still be office-based.  We have also been able to increase the staffing level within the sales department to ensure that we are contactable at all times.

As always, the fastest ways to connect with us are by telephone (01283550850), email (mail@beaconlamps.com) or using the chat-box on the website.

With regards production, there have been no changes since our last update.  Manufacturing, assembly, packing and despatch continue as normal and you can be assured that we will do everything possible to get what you need directly to you as soon as possible.

We continue a skeleton office-based staffing level to ensure that all parts of the jigsaw remain connected.

Finally, we plan to be closed Good Friday (10th April) and Easter Monday (13th April) as these are public holidays here in the UK.  Other than those two specific days we continue to be open and available as normal.

Please check back often to keep in touch with any updates as the situation progresses.

17th March 2020

With the continued spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19) throughout the UK and specifically the latest government guidelines, we confirm that we have been preparing for all scenarios to ensure there is limited interruption to service for our customers and suppliers.

The health of our staff and customers is absolutely at the top of our agenda. However, we remain fully committed to our customer service ethos and will be doing everything we can to support our valued clients through this challenging period.

We have a continuity plan in place to ensure that we are still able to operate as near to business as usual as is possible. But like all businesses, we have multiple staff with different personal scenarios, so there will inevitably be some changes to normal operations in line with government guidelines.

Sales & Admin

All our internal systems are available remotely so our team will be available to handle any accounts queries and contract renewals as normal.  Please continue to send any enquiries to mail@beaconlamps.com or call us directly on 01283 550850.  We do not anticipate any disruption to this area of the business.

Production

The nature of our product is that we heavily rely on the production team “working in the business” to manufacture up to sub-assembly level as well final-assembly & packaging.  We are monitoring the situation daily to match the circumstances to our capabilities on the day.  At present we continue to meet the immediate and ongoing needs of our customers.

Stock & Purchasing

As well as our production team, we are also heavily reliant on timely deliveries from our network of valued suppliers to ensure we have the right parts in the right place at the right time.  We are continually monitoring incoming deliveries and proactively seeking confirmation on longer lead-time parts, particularly those items ultimately sourced from overseas.  Whilst we are experiencing one or two challenges in this area, we are almost always able to offer an alternative solution to meet an urgent need.  Additionally, we are relying heavily on our stock forecasting system with a view to placing earlier orders and, on occasion, receive earlier deliveries than would otherwise be normal.

Despatch

Ultimately, none of this planning would be effective without the continued support of our delivery partners.  To date, we have not identified any potential delays but continue to monitor the situation closely.  The largest risk so far is the potential closure of the UK/EU border but, again, we await further guidance and notification from Government regarding this.

Clearly, this is an unprecedented and fluid situation which is changing rapidly.  However, we will, of course, continue to monitor the situation closely and provide further updates on this page accordingly.  In the meantime, should you have any concerns, issues or questions regarding this communication or any service we provide to you at this time, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
