Coronavirus (COVID-19) – Business Update

March 17, 2020

UPDATED 1st April 2020

Coronavirus

As we are halfway through our second week of enhanced enforced social distancing, we want to update you with where we currently stand operationally.

We have been progressively moving our office-based team to home based working whilst maintaining their Phone/Email/Business-systems access.  The remote systems are working well and remain robust as we have scaled-up this process.  All team members remain contactable on their normal DDI numbers and direct email addresses.  We hope that the steps taken are invisible to you and that you continue to receive the same levels of service as you would should we all still be office-based.  We have also been able to increase the staffing level within the sales department to ensure that we are contactable at all times.

As always, the fastest ways to connect with us are by telephone (01283550850), email (mail@beaconlamps.com) or using the chat-box on the website.

With regards production, there have been no changes since our last update.  Manufacturing, assembly, packing and despatch continue as normal and you can be assured that we will do everything possible to get what you need directly to you as soon as possible.

We continue a skeleton office-based staffing level to ensure that all parts of the jigsaw remain connected.

Finally, we plan to be closed Good Friday (10th April) and Easter Monday (13th April) as these are public holidays here in the UK.  Other than those two specific days we continue to be open and available as normal.

Please check back often to keep in touch with any updates as the situation progresses.

With the continued spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19) throughout the UK and specifically the latest government guidelines, we confirm that we have been preparing for all scenarios to ensure there is limited interruption to service for our customers and suppliers.

The health of our staff and customers is absolutely at the top of our agenda. However, we remain fully committed to our customer service ethos and will be doing everything we can to support our valued clients through this challenging period.

We have a continuity plan in place to ensure that we are still able to operate as near to business as usual as is possible. But like all businesses, we have multiple staff with different personal scenarios, so there will inevitably be some changes to normal operations in line with government guidelines.

Sales & Admin

All our internal systems are available remotely so our team will be available to handle any accounts queries and contract renewals as normal.  Please continue to send any enquiries to mail@beaconlamps.com or call us directly on 01283 550850.  We do not anticipate any disruption to this area of the business.

Production

The nature of our product is that we heavily rely on the production team “working in the business” to manufacture up to sub-assembly level as well final-assembly & packaging.  We are monitoring the situation daily to match the circumstances to our capabilities on the day.  At present we continue to meet the immediate and ongoing needs of our customers.

Stock & Purchasing

As well as our production team, we are also heavily reliant on timely deliveries from our network of valued suppliers to ensure we have the right parts in the right place at the right time.  We are continually monitoring incoming deliveries and proactively seeking confirmation on longer lead-time parts, particularly those items ultimately sourced from overseas.  Whilst we are experiencing one or two challenges in this area, we are almost always able to offer an alternative solution to meet an urgent need.  Additionally, we are relying heavily on our stock forecasting system with a view to placing earlier orders and, on occasion, receive earlier deliveries than would otherwise be normal.

Despatch

Ultimately, none of this planning would be effective without the continued support of our delivery partners.  To date, we have not identified any potential delays but continue to monitor the situation closely.  The largest risk so far is the potential closure of the UK/EU border but, again, we await further guidance and notification from Government regarding this.

Clearly, this is an unprecedented and fluid situation which is changing rapidly.  However, we will, of course, continue to monitor the situation closely and provide further updates on this page accordingly.  In the meantime, should you have any concerns, issues or questions regarding this communication or any service we provide to you at this time, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
